Even a destroyed house is still a home. After its conquest by the Islamic State, only ruins remained of Mosul. One of the film’s main characters, Bashar the fisherman, strives day after day to protect the most precious thing left of his family’s palace—a marble gate guarded by two lions—from eager collectors and roaming thieves.
