FESTIVAL FILM AND ARCHITECTURE
The Czech festival Film and Architecture is held as part of the nationwide festival Day of Architecture, celebrating World Architecture Day in October. It is organised by NGO Kruh. Although the festival centre is in the capital city Prague, it takes place throughout the Czech Republic and Slovakia (with echoes in Berlin and other Czech Centers around Europe). The festival was held in 2002 for the first time. Despite some intermissions over the years, in 2015 it became an independent platform. Through screening documentaries, experimental movies, and feature films, the festival aims to promote contemporary architectural approaches among the general public and present architecture as a significant part of our everyday life that requires appreciation and care. Every year the festival presents more than 20 movies produced from all over the world supplemented with a rich accompanying programme which includes discussions with the filmmakers or art performances. A significant part of the activities of Day of Architecture is the initiation of making short thematic films by young Czech filmmakers.
The 12th edition of the festival entitled Constructionwill be held from 29/9 till 4/10 2023 across the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
