Can a city develop without erasing the historical memory of particular places? The Uruguayan architect and visual artist, Alfredo Ghierra, explores this question with the example of his hometown Montevideo. He interviews urban planners, historians and architects in his cinematic reflection on the (im)possibilities of preserving architectural heritage in the transformation of cities.

Mercedes Sader: “Ghierra, known for his interventions in public space, here continues his long-standing artistic and political exploration of the future of cities. With humor, anger, and love for his city, he reveals how the omission of the architectural past leads to collective amnesia.”
