On his brief but important visit to Argentina, architect and Bauhaus representative Marcel Breuer designed the Ariston Hotel in the coastal town of Mar del Plata, a utopian promise of modernism that was never fulfilled. This documentary essay explores the circumstances surrounding the transformation of a pearl of a holiday resort into an abandoned, slowly decaying shell sinking into oblivion.

Mercedes Sader: “In this building I see not only a cultural artifact, but also a look back at how leisure, modernity and architecture once came together to create an ideal way of life. The film seeks to answer the question of what determines what kind of buildings society will preserve for future generations.”
