A block of short films by architect, designer, director and producer Liam Young, who has been nominated for a prestigious BAFTA award and has worked as a consultant on several Hollywood science fiction films. His latest lavish environmental film, The Great Endeavour, uses visual effects to showcase the “cleansing of the atmosphere”, the process of carbon dioxide extraction. Another of his works is Planet City, set in an imaginary city of ten billion people. The screening will be followed by a discussion on speculative design and architecture. The speculative architect does not create physical buildings as we traditionally understand them, but explores the impact of emerging technologies on the field of architecture and urbanism through fiction, film and performance. The discussion will be moderated by Philippe U. del Drago.
After the screening, there will be a discussion with Liam Young (online). The discussion will be led by Philippe U. del Drago.
