A short black and white excursion through Rome at night, inspired by the last scene of Federico Fellini’s Roma. While in the famous director’s film the buildings are artificially lit and the play of light and shadow is only hinted at, EUR42 brings it to perfection. A group of motorcyclists rides through the city, whose outlines are gradually rendered by the light thrown on them, and monuments and statues suddenly emerge from the darkness. The film shifts the focus to the southern suburb of Esposizione Universale di Roma, EUR for short, a residential and commercial district of Rome that showcases Nazi architecture.
