Arne Jacobsen’s work has shaped the identity of modern Denmark throughout the 20th century, and at the same time contributed to defining the renowned Scandinavian design. His designs range from the 1929 design of the House of the Future to schools, town halls and other public buildings to his once-derided design for the now iconic SAS high-rise hotel in Copenhagen. But furniture design has become central to Jacobsen’s work. His Egg armchair or Series7 chair have stood the test of time and are popular all over the world. The documentary shows charts Jacobsen’s varied career and uses interviews with experts and former colleagues on the backdrop of his interiors, illustrating the personality of this pioneer whose work has always sought to find solutions to the issue of affordable quality housing and living.
