The visionary architectural and design studio LOT-EK was among the first to transform shipping containers into homes, schools, galleries, and libraries.
The duo, Ada Tolla and Giuseppe Lignano, originally from Italy and now based in New York, has been focusing on upcycling these unintended symbols of the modern era for more than a quarter of a century.
This feature-length documentary showcases the results of their lifelong collaboration and their vision for the essential repair and regeneration of the artificial environment, composed of hundreds of millions of outdated and unused containers worldwide.
The screening will take place on October 6 at 8:30 PM at Kino Světozor.
A unique showcase of films on architecture, design, art, and urban creation invites audiences to explore some thirty documentaries and feature films, organized into several thematic sections. The That Architecture section will present inspiring portraits of women who had to fight for their place in a male-dominated world.
The Overlooked section will highlight buildings, creators, and stories that have remained in the background. The thematic block What’s Next? will address the future of architecture and innovation—from floating cities to material recycling. The traditional program strand Inspiration, curated this year by guest curator Mercedes Sader, will offer visually captivating essays on Latin American architecture, spanning from unique brick structures to modernist houses and monuments. In Prague, Sader will personally introduce her film about world-renowned sculptor Pablo Atchugarry.
The autumn part of the series will open with landscape architect Sophie Beaudoin, co-president of the Canadian studio CCxA (Claude Cormier et Associés). The practice is renowned for its sensitive approach to the urban landscape, its emphasis on place identity, and its thoughtful integration of public space into everyday life.
Her lecture will highlight selected projects and the process behind them, from the conceptual stage to final realization. She will also address broader issues currently shaping the field of landscape architecture, including responses to the climate crisis, the changing use of public space, and the need for long-term sustainable solutions. Drawing on three decades of practice, she will reflect on the interplay between form, content, and the social role of contemporary landscape design.
The opening film of Architecture Day will be Women of the Bauhaus, directed by Susanne Radelhof, screened on October 1 in Prague, with the director herself introducing the film. We know Bauhaus through names like Walter Gropius or Mies van der Rohe—but what about artist Friedl Dicker-Brandeis or textile designer Gunta Stölzl? This documentary brings attention to the forgotten women of this renowned school, whose influence on modern architecture and design is undeniable.
Alongside the opening screenings in Prague and Brno, this year’s festival will also feature showings across other regions throughout the country. The complete festival program can be found on our website under the Program section.
Tickets are available via the Světozor cinema website.

The 14th edition of the international Film and Architecture Festival, taking place from October 1 to 6, 2025, will spotlight figures in architecture, art, and film who have undeservedly remained in the shadows—whether due to gender, historical context, or collective memory.
This year’s program will feature powerful, often deeply personal cinematic portraits of female architects, designers, theorists, and activists, alongside compelling stories of other creators whose influence and contributions have long been overlooked. “The festival’s curatorial concept builds on the main theme of this year’s sister event, Architecture Day. Our focus is not only on women in front of the camera, but also those behind it—directors, screenwriters, producers, and cinematographers,” says Václav Ševčík, curator of the Film and Architecture Festival.
The 13th edition of the Film and Architecture Festival with the theme of Eccentricities and Oddities is over.

Thank you to all partners, organizers and cinema operators! And most of all, thank you, the audience, for coming and enjoying the atmosphere of a full cinema together with us.
