Tadao Ando: From Emptiness to Infinity
Tadao Ando. Legend of not only the Japanese, but also international architecture. Autodidact, boxer. He replaced the formal school education with travelling around buildings that interested him. Without the support of critics and theoreticians, who are often linked to the academic sphere, he managed to establish himself with small realisations that drew attention of the general public. Working exclusively with concrete, it is clear that the building attributes such as light and connection with natural surrounding is more significant for him rather than material. Most of his best constructions can be found only in Japan and thus for most of us not easy to visit. One more reason to visit this film and together with the architect contemplate about the main role of buildings, this artificially created environment we spent most of our time at.
