Welcome to Longyearbyen, one of the most isolated and coldest places in the world

The city of Longyearbyen located in the Norwegian Svalbard Islands resembles a moonscape rather than a city, where polar bears outnumber humans. The documentary tells colourful stories of the city of two thousand inhabitants drawing attention with its magic and harsh landscape. At the same time, it outlines the reasons why people – to the surprise of many – choose to happily live here. Furthermore, it focuses on the nearby village of Pyramiden, once a coal mining city, today a bizarre ghost town with one inhabitant guiding lost tourists.
